Industry Partners
The School of Hospitality, Tourism and Marketing has strategic external partners who contribute actively to its teaching and research programs. Industry leaders from advertising and communications, market research, hotel management, international tourism operations and attractions, constantly monitor the relevance of our courses. Our industry partners also commission student or staff research projects, host and speak at School functions,
give guest lectures, and employ our students during their courses and our graduates on completion of their studies. Our key partners include:
Melbourne Airport
As world leader in airport management, Melbourne Airport has had a long association with the School of Hospitality, Tourism and Makreting at Victoria University. A number of staff at Melbourne Airport are graduates of our courses. In 2006 Mr Geoffrey Conaghan, the airport's Marketing Manager, was one of Victoria University's 90 Years, 90 Legends.
Sofitel Melbourne
Sofitel
Melbourne is part of Australia's largest hotel group, Accor Asia-Pacific, and one of Victoria's leading five-star properties. The hotel provides a range of support for VU students including prizes, training opportunities, and a strategic articulation agreement between the School and Academy Sofitel. The hotel also supports our research activities and has been a case study for various School publications.
Lonely Planet
Lonely Planet
is a world-leading travel guide publisher. Since its headquarters relocated to the banks of the Maribyrnong River, close to VU's Footscray Park Campus, Lonely Planet's connections with the School have strengthened. Both organisations share a commitment to sustainable and ethical tourism. The co-proprietor and founder of Lonely Planet, Tony Wheeler, is a
professorial associate and a frequent commentator and speaker at school-related events. Lonely Planet has provided strong support for student activities, including the annual Hospitality and Tourism Co-op and Careers Expo.
