Research

Our staff and PhD students are involved in a wide range of research activities. 

CRC Tourism
Four staff members were recently awarded grants of over $300,000 by the Sustainable Tourism Cooperative Research Centre (STCRC). The STCRC's mission is the development and management of intellectual property to deliver innovation to business, community and government to underpin the development of a dynamic, internationally competitive and sustainable tourism industry. The projects the staff members will be working are:

  • A Multi-Level Tourism Enterprise Business Planning Simulator, $76,000, Mike McGrath
  • Developing & Evaluating Location Based Systems, $80,000, Paul Hawking & Andrew Stein
  • An Abstracted Ontology and Application Generator for Web-Based Tourism Systems and Services, $79,000, Mike McGrath
  • Demonstrating the Potential of Travel Recommender Systems, $80,000, John Zeleznikow
The various projects will be undertaken in collaboration with researchers from Monash, La Trobe, Queensland and Tasmania univesities, as well as the University of Technology Sydney. They started in July 2005 and run for 12 months.

ARC Linkage Grant
ARC APAI grant, 2003-2005 (Arthur Tatnall, Stephen Burgess, Carmine Sellitto, Paul Darbyshire and Andrew Wenn). Topic: The Adoption of Information and Communications Technologies by Rural General Practitioners: a Socio-Technical Analysis with industry partner Central Highlands Division of General Practice (CHDGP).
