WIL Awards
The Centre for Work Integrated Learning offers a variety of student awards each year. These are initially incorporated into the Annual Faculty Awards process and announced at that event. Student award winners are also engaged in a variety of Work Integrated Learning (WIL) activities and events conducted by the Centre throughout the year, including the annual Work Integrated Learning Expos.

I cannot recommend the WIL program highly enough. Working with Peter Rowland was a fantastic experience that enabled me to gain invaluable industry knowledge. The best aspect of undertaking WIL for me was being able to learn in the industry and put theory into practice.
The events industry offers a multitude of work opportunities both locally and abroad. WIL students normally begin in administrative and event assistant positions.

Work Integrated Learning has been a fantastic opportunity to gain an insight into the world of Accounting. Being exposed to different people and situations has been rewarding - I have learnt so much. The experience has been invaluable to my career and I have secured a permanent position at SAIPrivate while I finish my degree.
Accounting students work in a variety of roles in the manufacturing and public sector and at small and large accounting firms, developing practical skills in bookkeeping, taxation, auditing, budgeting, forecasting and consulting.

I see Work Integrated Learning as an integral part of my course. Working with Toll Tasmania has allowed me to develop practical industry skills. The relationships I have built with those currently in the business are a keystone to starting my career.
Global logistics involves supply chain management of goods transported via sea, rail rolling stock, air freight, ports and warehousing to co-ordinate deliveries to some of Australia’s largest companies.

My Work Integrated Learning year with Quest Serviced Apartments allowed me to put 2 years of theory into practice. In this time I gained a greater understanding of the Hospitality industry whilst also becoming confident working within a corporate environment.
Co-op students work in 5-star hotels in Melbourne, ski resorts in Canada and country clubs in the US. Positions range from front office to human resources and marketing.

The Work Integrated Learning experience has helped me to establish an on-going position within the Victorian Public Sector. I have been fortunate enough to work in varied roles including work with the Department of Human Services and the Department of Justice allowing me to gain an insight into recruitment, work health and learning and development.
Human Resource professionals deal with issues that affect people as employees of an organisation. They are directly involved with recruitment, employment, training and developing company policies and procedures.

A Co-op position at General Motors Holden is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in Information Systems on a global scale. Right from the beginning, you are given the chance to sit in the driver’s seat with real responsibilities. This opportunity has given me a great start to my career, and I have now acquired a permanent position with GM Holden’s IS&S team.
Advances in information technology have changed the way in which we live, work and conduct business. We equip our IT students with the skill set to work across a range of industry sectors and in a variety of roles.

The importing and exporting of goods is critical to the success of the Australian economy. Our international trade students have the opportunity to work in a truly global environment.

Through the WIL subject, Professional Legal Practice I have been able to gain
professional experience with the Sunshine Magistrates Court Program. I have
developed a valuable insight into the legal system and combining study with
industry experience has led me to a challenging graduate position with the
Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
VU law students develop their professional skills through hands-on experience and have an edge in gaining their first jobs in the legal profession.

The skills and knowledge I have gained whilst working at Webjet are invaluable. Being a member of this innovative and driven company has confirmed my passion for the tourism industry. The WIL program has given me the opportunity to kick start my career in a positive and exciting way.
Tourism WIL students are active across all sectors of the industry, working with high profile organisations like Tourism Victoria, Qantas in Los Angeles, small tour operators and wholesalers in Melbourne and global travel companies around Australasia, the UK and USA.
